BRUSSELS. Mr. Xavier Lapeyre de Cabanes, French Ambassador to Belgium, opened the doors of the Residence de France for the France Alumni Belgium evening. This theatrical evening was organized as part of World Alumni Day, which celebrates former students of French higher education on all five continents.

For the third year running, alumni from all generations and backgrounds came together for an evening of reunion, professional exchange and entertainment, centred around France Alumni Belgium and its online platform. Accessible to anyone who has spent part of their studies in France, the France Alumni Belgique platform enables you to stay connected with alumni from all over the world, to be invited to festive and networking events, and to receive information such as job offers.

This year's France Alumni Belgium evening, in partnership with the prestigious Cours Florent school and its Brussels campus, showcased French excellence in the teaching of the theatrical arts - an art in which the country of Molière occupies a singular place. Belgian alumni of the Cours Florent orchestrated a theatrical performance based on the concept of theater on demand. In this original formula, the audience chooses roles and situations at random, offering the actors an improvised challenge to take up on stage. It's a fun, interactive way of experiencing theater, and a fine example of Franco-Belgian cooperation, since the company 7 ans plus tard, which created the concept and produced the actors, is based in Hauts-de-France and employs artists from both sides of the border.

It's essential for France to honor its alumni every year, as they represent an opportunity, as the French ambassador to Belgium, Mr. Xavier Lapeyre de Cabanes, pointed out to the alumni: " You contribute to strengthening the economic and cultural ties between France and the countries in which you live ".

In 2023-2024, France welcomed 430,000 international students. Every year, nearly 100,000 of them graduate. They can join the worldwide France Alumni network, run by Campus France and French diplomatic posts in over 130 countries, free of charge. Today, France Alumni boasts over 570,000 members.

Created in 2014, the France Alumni platform enables former students, whether French, Belgian or from elsewhere, to keep a living link with France. Its Belgian version was launched in Brussels in 2018, during the state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron, and now boasts 568 members. Beyond France Alumni Belgique, some twenty chapters of alumni of French universities and grandes écoles based in Belgium run the network. These associations enable their members to maintain their relations and keep a strong link with France.

After the show, the evening continued with a convivial cocktail party, enabling participants to renew acquaintances with former classmates, meet other graduates, and exchange views with representatives of the French diplomatic network and the many alumni associations present.
